Haven had a class party too, but I forgot my camera that day. :(

The end of soccer season is in sight

What a coach!
'Coach Jason' tying a player's shoe with Nolan on his back.

Courage in action.

Some days the battle is a tough one.

Fall Bonfire and Hayride

Fall- It's that time of year again. Cool evening and fun around an open fire.
Our church had a nice evening for the kids- a hayride and bonfire, roasted hot dogs and marshmellows.

Andrew- enjoying a 'Smore

Dinner-time Conversations

We usually sit down and have a family dinner each night and with five kids there is a lot of ground to cover- everything from who brought home a library book to... how a spelling test went to... so-n-so from my class didn't wear sneakers today on 'PE day' because shoes her dad pays for stays at her dad's house... and it goes on and on. Needless to say, we cover all the important stuff. Here are a few snippets of some recent dinner-time or after dinner conversations, that I thought were very funny and very telling.

Courage to me: "Mommy, Morgan's (girl in his class) mommy have baby out of her tummy. You have baby in your tummy (he could mean past tense). You have Daddy in you tummy. I have a baby in tummy, too." {Ummmm... no. That's not how that works.}

Haven to herself, and with urgency: "I wonder how big my brain is right now?" {Sometimes I wonder, too.}

Vida to Jason: "Daddy you strong. You are. But, not as strong as Grandma." (To which Jason responds, "What? Grandma?") Vida continues, "One time, I saw her pull out all her teeth at once." {Can't argue with that.}

Andrew: "Richard Simmons? or John Wayne? They're like the same thing." {They could not be farther from "the same". This is when YouTube videos really come in handy.}

Haven to me: "Mom, I don't know why. But for some strange reason, I feel like I need to hip-hop." {Can't explain that one.}

Vida: "Is Andrew's gerbil real?" {as opposed to a stuffed gerbil? I guess. }

Nolan to all of us, who were doing character impressions: "That is not how Cap'm Knuckles sounds. I can hear him in my head and that is not it." {Scary- my son hears voices.}

Haven: "Mom, can we google God?" {Right off the bat, it sounded a little illicit. But I like how even the little ones have taken to using google as a verb.}

Never a dull moment... or an adult conversation.

Field Trip to the Museum of Florida History

Mastodon
big hit with the 6 fourth grade boys I was in charge of,
including Andrew

recovered Spanish sunken treasure
Andrew checking out the cannon

Quilt show
The boys were impressed with several of the quilts,
but they breezed through and saw all they needed to see in about 5 minutes.
I managed to corral them here, while we waited for the other groups to finish.

Haven- Now New and Improved with Glasses

Haven with glasses
(Sorry. If you are a FB friend, this is not new news to you.
But the pictures were too good not to share.)

The glasses provide a wealth of new facial expressions

This was her "thinking with glasses" pose.
She's a real live wire, putting it mildly.
